Beef Caldereta Recipe, Made Easy by Mama Sita’s Caldereta Mix

I used to be intimidated by Caldereta. It seemed so complicated. I’ll tell you why.

In the olden days…

Growing up, we would always have these family parties and gatherings at home. Aunts and Uncles would come over early to help with the preparations. Food were always made from scratch. And I mean no short cuts!

You need chicken? Pork? Beef? Goat? They buy them alive and slaughter them at home. Morbid, I know. But that was tradition … something that was not passed on to the next generation. I don’t know, we just can’t do it. We also did not use gas stoves when cooking. Not that we don’t have stoves, the older generation just prefer cooking with firewood. They say it adds flavor. Complicated, right?

Anyway … back to Caldereta.

Blogger in Focus: Working Mother of 2

Blogger in Focus: Working Mother of 2

I’m Haneen, 27 years old, mommy behind Working Mother of 2. I’m Lebanese moved to UAE 5.5 years ago and now living and working in Sharjah. I have a 2.5 years old daughter and a 10 months old son.

Working Mother of 2

How did you start blogging?

I started in November 2015 when I found myself advising expecting and new moms & answering too many questions on motherhood, experience with my kids, deliveries, balancing life between family and work so thought why not giving it a try. Plus, writing is something I love since ever. And thus Working Mother of 2 was born.

What do you write about?

Working Mother of 2 is mainly about my personal experience with motherhood journey. I only write about things I’ve been through, things I tried before & things I’ve learned since 2013 when I had my 1st baby. My primary goal is to help mommies out there in a way or another as I’ve been through it all and maybe what worked to me, will work for other moms and the things I’ve learned might be of benefit for others. So why not have each others’ backs, support and share our experiences and get to learn from each other. Read more

Things To Do in UAE: Preparing for the Long Weekend

It’s another long weekend guys!

I’m going to make this quick. I’m listing down some of the things you can do during the weekend without putting a hole in your pocket! Here goes:

Al Ain Oasis

Jebel Hafeet

SAM_2215 edited

Al Aryam Panorama

Bastakiya Corridor

These are just some of the things we were able to do. I’m sure there are a lot more hidden gems in the UAE, and just like Pokemon Go, we gotta catch them all!

OR …

Stay at home! It’s really not a big deal. Catch up on some sleep. Clean your closet. Read a book. Chill!

As for me, I’m hoping to catch up on my blogging backlog. We promised B that we will be staying in a hotel (don’t worry, we used our Entertainer app so the budget is intact!). Have a guess at which hotel. It’s the oldest hotel building in the UAE!!

Happy long weekend guys!
