Ripe Market and Nosebleeds

November 18, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me Leave a Comment

Finally got the chance to visit Ripe Market in Zabeel Park last Friday. It was past 10 am when we got there so there were lots of people already. We couldn’t find parking so we had to walk going to the park. It was so crowded I didn’t know where to start!  And for some…

Blogger / Press Dinner at Al Shayan Persian Restaurant, Al Ghurair Rotana

November 1, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 1 Comment

About a week ago, I was invited to another blogger event at Al Shayan Persian Restaurant in Al Ghurair Rotana. I made sure I could go because it’s an opportunity to meet other bloggers and enjoy authentic Persian food. Win – win, right?  So happy that I’ve finally met travel bloggers Kenneth (Ken Surat) and Gelo…

Chic Cuisine at Zuri Restaurant

October 30, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 7 Comments

I was a guest at Zuri Restaurant in Auris Hotel, Al Barsha a few days back. Together with blogger friends, Carla (My Yellow Bells) and Gelo (Beyond Toxicity), we went to this 5 star Deluxe Hotel in what is called the “new business hub” of Dubai.  Sarah (On Cloud Zen) was already there when…

I was invited to try the crabs at Chimes the other day. It was an instant blogger gathering as Brigitte and Carla were there too. Arrived at around 8 pm. Just in time for dinner. I was really hungry. First they served prawn cracklings (is that what this is called? I know it by the…

Peppa Pig Sugar Cookies

October 6, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 1 Comment

Hello! I’m finally posting the Peppa Pig Sugar Cookies we made. I had so much fun doing this with Abi (Cuddles and Crumbs). Check out her blog for recipes and stuff. 🙂 She prepared the cookie dough using Haniela’s recipe. You can find that here. We rolled it out to the desired thickness and started…

Peppa Pig Cake

October 5, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 6 Comments

Here’s my post on B’s cake. As mentioned before, I will make separate posts for the cake and the sugar cookies because these were firsts for me. To start, you should head over to Cuddles and Crumbs for the recipe for the chocolate cake. That was all her. I had no participation in the baking…

Hello!

Hey there!
We’re a Filipino family of four figuring things out in California after living in Dubai for years. This space is part blog, part memory box—where we share life lately, parenting wins and fails, travels, and everything in between.

Sometimes it’s deep, sometimes it’s funny, but it’s always honest. Thanks for hanging out with us!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO” mindset. It sounds fun — and sometimes it IS harmless. But when we let it guide our decisions without pause… it can turn into a habit of acting first, thinking later.

This post is just something I made to process that idea. What if we shifted from the YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE to YOU ONLY DIE ONCE?

It’s not being a buzzkill. It’s about modeling self-control, delayed gratification, and faith in action—even when it’s not popular.

What do you think: YOLO or YODO?

Ps. I shared more of the story behind this thought over on @threads if you’re curious (same handle!)
