Eid Break – What did we do?

Ohaiii guys!

Has it really been almost 3 weeks since my last post? Time really flies fast, huh? This month has really kept us on our toes.

First week was the start of the new school year. That means I’m back to making some bento boxes for B! So glad that our schedules are working well, otherwise I’d be one cranky mama! (I can’t cope with very little sleep, don’t test me. ;P )

Second week was the Eid break. Long holiday + a couple of days off meant we got to go home! Yep, we went to the Philippines for a short (tiring!) break.

We’ve been planning for this since last year when we went to Switzerland. It’s Alvin’s mom’s birthday and on her 59th, we hiked to Berggasthaus Aescher-Wildkirchli (and embarrassingly, the seniors were ahead of me!) She said that she wishes that all of her children would be together for her 60th, so we made it happen. (More on that in another post!)

We left Dubai on Friday morning via EK 334. It was my first time to be shuttled from the boarding gates to a “remote area” where the plane awaits. That was a “long” and slow ride.

We arrived really late so we just went home. Next day, we met up with my relatives for a quick catch up.

We then drove to the South to meet up with Alvin’s family before going to Club Balai Isabel

This is where we celebrated mother’s birthday. I loved the place. It’s got a good view of the Taal Volcano (which is the smallest active volcano in the Philippines) and they’ve got nice amenities. However, I wasn’t impressed with the food. It was so-so.

The place is perfect for photo shoots which is exactly what we did! We hired photographers to follow us around and take beautiful photos of the family. Separated by land and sea, they haven’t been in one place all together for a long time so a perfect portrait is the best gift I could think of. Who knows when we’ll see each other again, right?

On day 4, we bid Balai Isabel goodbye so we could go back to the North and celebrate Blake’s birthday with her cousins (details on another post!).

Day 5, we checked in at Midas Hotel and Casino which is near Mall of Asia. Guess where we went after check in? LOL. We had a good night’s rest, spent a lazy morning in the hotel and then met up with Alvin’s family once again for a last hurrah.

We booked a long table at Four Season’s Buffet and stayed there from 5 pm till closing time. Ahhh, family. So much stories to share, so little time.

My dear Philippines, I miss you. We need to reconnect.

We checked out the next day and flew back to Dubai. It was a tiring week but all worth it.

Good thing there’s another long weekend coming up. Time to get pampered!

Where are you going this weekend?
