Tried: Nando’s Al Qasba

September 16, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 4 Comments

It has been ages since I last stepped inside Nando’s. It’s not that I don’t like it, in fact, I remember enjoying my meal immensely. For the life of me, I can’t think of a valid reason  why I haven’t come back to this restaurant.  So when I got an invite to dine at their…

Dinner with Travel Blogger : Michael Hodson

September 7, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 5 Comments

When I received a call asking if I wanted to join a “meet and greet” dinner with a famous travel blogger, I said YES immediately. Who would want to pass a dinner invite at Shayan, Al Ghurair Rotana? Haha! No, seriously, I did not want to pass the chance to meet Mr. Travel Blogger.  “Wait….

Guilt Free Ladies Night at The Observatory, Dubai

September 3, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me Leave a Comment

I don’t usually go out on a Monday because 1- it’s a weekday, obviously. (I can’t function the next day if I stay out the night before!) and 2 – well, I don’t know where to go because I’ve left my night life behind a long time ago. 😀 Sheila | A B & MeHey…

We were at Deira City Centre last night for some grocery shopping. We haven’t had dinner yet so we decided to eat at Carluccio’s. This wasn’t my first time to dine in this Italian Cafe and Restaurant and it hasn’t disappointed me just yet.  Sheila | A B & MeHey there! I’m a mom of…

Iftar at Liwan Al Ghurair Rayhaan Rotana

July 2, 2014 by Sheila | A B & Me 6 Comments

I had the pleasure of attending bloggers and media Iftar at Liwan in Al Ghurair Rayhaan a few days ago. I picked up Grace  (Sandier Pastures) from her office (she works nearby) and we went together. So glad to see that Rosell (Kero’s Celebration) and Carla (My Yellow Bells) were already there. Impromptu girls night! 😀…

Hello!

Hey there!
We’re a Filipino family of four figuring things out in California after living in Dubai for years. This space is part blog, part memory box—where we share life lately, parenting wins and fails, travels, and everything in between.

Sometimes it’s deep, sometimes it’s funny, but it’s always honest. Thanks for hanging out with us!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO” mindset. It sounds fun — and sometimes it IS harmless. But when we let it guide our decisions without pause… it can turn into a habit of acting first, thinking later.

This post is just something I made to process that idea. What if we shifted from the YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE to YOU ONLY DIE ONCE?

It’s not being a buzzkill. It’s about modeling self-control, delayed gratification, and faith in action—even when it’s not popular.

Ps. I shared more of the story behind this thought over on @threads if you’re curious (same handle!)
