Rent a Timeshare on Your Next Vacation

October 25, 2013 by Sheila | A B & Me 1 Comment

Remember that time when was looking for a cheap getaway? (I wrote about that here). It did not happen because I really did not plan ahead. I mean, waaaaaayyy ahead. You don’t go looking for cheap hotels like two weeks before the holidays! Also, holidays usually mean there won’t be good promotions … so…
Anyway, I realized that the best way to go on a budget friendly family vacation is through timeshare rentals. Honestly, I was not interested in timeshares because of the news about the scams going on but when I stumbled upon this site – RedWeek.com – I was convinced that timeshare rentals is clearly the way to go if ever we decide to go on a proper vacation.
I know you’d agree with me that “budget-friendly” does not always go with “family vacation”. There’s a lot to consider when you are going out as a family as opposed to going on your own. Traveling alone, you can just rent a car and sleep there (LOLS!) but when traveling with family — especially with kids, it gets more complicated.
Here’s where timeshare rentals come in. Did you know that timeshare rentals can cost up to 50% less than hotel rooms? I did not know that!! What is a timeshare rental anyway? Well basically, you rent the property from the person who bought the timeshare for a bargain price.

A timeshare is like a real home-away-from-home. You have separate bedrooms, a dining area, a living room, a patio or balcony, and a kitchen. And best of all – maid service will clean it, keep it supplied with fresh towels and linens, and even carry out the garbage.
Even more budget-friendly is being able to save money on meals. Most timeshare rentals come with a full-sized, fully-equipped kitchen. That makes it easy to prepare meals so you don’t have to pay high restaurant prices three times a day. It really is a real home-away-from-home! And also, you can use all the amenities of the resort. Experience luxurious family vacation that won’t make you go broke!

That appeals to me because, well … we all deserve a little luxury. Right?

I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.

Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.

Timeshares for rent by owners offer an opportunity for vacationers to book a timeshare suite instead of a regular hotel room for about the same cost, but that is just the theory. The truth is that timeshare rentals can be very expensive, since you have to cover the annual expenses that the original owner has, such as maintenance fees, membership, assessment fees, among others. Many vacationers decide to rent a timeshare direct from the owner, being that timeshare resales and rental companies do not have a good reputation.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO” mindset. It sounds fun — and sometimes it IS harmless. But when we let it guide our decisions without pause… it can turn into a habit of acting first, thinking later.

This post is just something I made to process that idea. What if we shifted from the YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE to YOU ONLY DIE ONCE?

It’s not being a buzzkill. It’s about modeling self-control, delayed gratification, and faith in action—even when it’s not popular.

What do you think: YOLO or YODO?

Ps. I shared more of the story behind this thought over on @threads if you’re curious (same handle!)
