Mirdif City Centre Launches “Flavours of the World”

November 16, 2013 by Sheila | A B & Me 2 Comments

This is a (slightly) late post. I have been so blessed this year that I can’t keep up with the stories I want to share! #thankyoumoreplease!

Last Wednesday I was lucky to be invited to the media launch of “Flavours of the World” in Mirdif City Center. To celebrate the start of the outdoor dining season, they have prepared a month-long international food festival.

Garden of Lights at the Oasis Walk

From 15 November to 15th December 2013, shoppers can enjoy Al Fresco dining with Mirdif City Centre’s extensive range of F&B partners. Diners can choose from more than 80 global dining options and enjoy the ambience created by the Garden of Lights.

“Dining is such an important part of our lifestyles, and Mirdif City Centre is pleased to celebrate the onset of the outdoor dining season. The theme of this year’s campaign, “Flavours of the World” perfectly suits what we have on offer because you will find delicacies from all continents under a single roof” – Fuad Sharaf – Sr. Director – Property Management

Shoppers who spend AED 300 in cumulative or individual receipts at any store will get a chance to enter a draw and win a dining experience in Italy with the whole family (two adults and two kids).  You get double chances of winning if you spend the same amount at any of the F&B outlets. Now that’s really generous!!

Dynamite Shrimp – PF Changs – I think I finished this all by myself!

Aside from the wonderful dining experience and the chance to win an amazing prize, recipe booklets are distributed to food lovers throughout the festivities. These booklets will have information about each cuisine and recipes of best-selling dishes of the participating restaurants. (I need to get my hands on one of those babies!)

Here is my partner in crime, Grace of Sandier Pastures enjoying the food at Yo! Sushi. I have a side story to tell — Grace and Rosell (Kero’s Celebration) had to teach me how to use chopsticks. I never really learned coz I would always ask for the easy grip chopsticks at Yo! Sushi. (LOLS! )

This has got to be my favorite food of the night. This zucchini pasta from Carluccio’s is just LOVE! I also had hummus, mutabal and mixed grill from Leila’s.

Who knew I would be eating zucchini for the first time?

Aside from the food, there was also entertainment. Musicians were playing live, and while we were enjoying our food, an illusionist stopped by our table to perform.

He literally bent and melted this fork right before our eyes. This was a real fork! I touched it myself. (Can you tell I’m impressed? hehehe)

For more information and updates, you can check out Mirdif City Centre‘s Facebook page or you can follow them on Twitter and Instagram.

Hey there! I’m a mom of two who loves to crochet. Balancing work and motherhood is crazy, but I handle it with love and humor. With my eldest entering her tween years, the chaos just got a whole lot more interesting!

I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.

Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.

Hello!

Hey there!
We’re a Filipino family of four figuring things out in California after living in Dubai for years. This space is part blog, part memory box—where we share life lately, parenting wins and fails, travels, and everything in between.

Sometimes it’s deep, sometimes it’s funny, but it’s always honest. Thanks for hanging out with us!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO” mindset. It sounds fun — and sometimes it IS harmless. But when we let it guide our decisions without pause… it can turn into a habit of acting first, thinking later.

This post is just something I made to process that idea. What if we shifted from the YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE to YOU ONLY DIE ONCE?

It’s not being a buzzkill. It’s about modeling self-control, delayed gratification, and faith in action—even when it’s not popular.

What do you think: YOLO or YODO?

Ps. I shared more of the story behind this thought over on @threads if you’re curious (same handle!)
