How To: Fix Melted EOS Lipbalm

August 11, 2012 by Sheila | A B & Me 10 Comments

I’m not a very fond user of lip balms. I usually just use vaseline if I have dry lips. Or if I’m feeling a little girly, I use Blistex (that’s for another post)

Anyway, I decided to purchase EOS lipbalm coz my friends has been raving about it and I think its cute. (HA!) I didn’t know what to get so I decided on the safest bet, Strawberry Sorbet.

EOS LIPBALM

I opened the package immediately and this is what I got.

EOS LIPBALM MELTED

It was just half a sphere! LOL. The poor thing melted. No one’s to blame though…It is REALLY hot here. The rest of the balm is underneath. I did a little research (thanks Mr. Google) and found out that I’m not the only one. So, how did I fix it?

HOW TO FIZ MELTED EOS LIPBALM

I placed the “egg” (upside down) outside so the warm HOT sun can melt it again. I left it like that for about an hour or so. It didn’t turn out what I was expecting but its good enough. The product became “softer” so it was easier to manage.

Next thing I did was scoop out the half sphere and put it in the rounded side of the egg. Then with an army knife, I removed the grid stopper in the middle and scooped our the remaining product. With clean hands, I gently pressed the product so that it would take the shape of the mold.

Then I reassembled the packaging. Placed the egg inside the freezer for some time and voila! I have a whole sphere again. It’s not as smooth but hey, at least I have the whole thing!

This is so helpful. Ever since my eos melted from being exposed to the sun in the car on a summer day, I was devastated. Now after using these instructions, I am so happy. I would like to modify a few things, though. It is extremely quick and easy to pop the eos in the microwave for about 15 seconds instead of using hot water to make the eos product mushy. Thhanks so much!

I used an army knife (you can use anything! small knife, cuticle pusher etc) to take out the grid stopper. its very easy to remove.

maybe use pliers to pull it off?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO I’ve been thinking a lot about the whole “YOLO” mindset. It sounds fun — and sometimes it IS harmless. But when we let it guide our decisions without pause… it can turn into a habit of acting first, thinking later.

This post is just something I made to process that idea. What if we shifted from the YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE to YOU ONLY DIE ONCE?

It’s not being a buzzkill. It’s about modeling self-control, delayed gratification, and faith in action—even when it’s not popular.

What do you think: YOLO or YODO?

Ps. I shared more of the story behind this thought over on @threads if you’re curious (same handle!)
