Breezy San Juan Capistrano: Our Favorite Brunch Spot

September 14, 2025 by Sheila | A B & Me Leave a Comment

Every time we visit San Juan Capistrano, Breezy is our go-to brunch spot. It’s one of those places that feels fresh and modern but still cozy, with food that hits both the comfort and Instagram-worthy checkboxes. Right now, they’re closed for renovations (and we’re counting the days until they reopen!), but Breezy deserves its own spotlight.

Family

Why We Love Breezy

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the vibe. It’s trendy without trying too hard — think coastal casual meets island warmth. The space is light, airy, and totally Instagrammable. It’s the kind of place you’d bring your family on a weekend or meet friends for a catch-up brunch, and everyone would leave happy.

But it’s the food that keeps us coming back. Breezy celebrates Filipino and Pacific Islander flavors while keeping things approachable for anyone. It’s comfort food with a twist, served in a way that feels both nostalgic and new.

What to Eat at Breezy

Some of our favorite picks (and reader favorites, too):

  • Adobo Breakfast Burrito – shredded pork adobo wrapped up with eggs, garlic rice, and all the good stuff.
  • Ube Pancakes – bright purple stacks topped with whipped cream, toasted coconut, and coconut crema. (So good, and also a photo moment!)
  • Loco Moco – the ultimate comfort plate, drenched in Breezy’s signature gravy.
  • Acai Bowls – refreshing and colorful, named after the owner’s kids — a sweet family touch.

It’s the kind of menu that makes you want to come back just to try something different every time.

The Pinoy Twist

What makes Breezy stand out is how it brings Filipino food culture into the Southern California brunch scene. If you grew up with adobo, longganisa, or halo-halo, you’ll smile at the familiar flavors. If you didn’t, it’s the perfect introduction — fun, delicious, and made for sharing.

As a Filipino-American, I love seeing places like Breezy represent our culture in such a cool and modern way. It’s more than just food — it’s part of the growing story of Filipino cuisine finding its place in mainstream dining.

Waiting for the Reopening

At the moment, Breezy is undergoing renovations, and we’re eager to see what’s next for this spot. I reached out to the owner for an update, so I’ll share more details once they respond. One thing’s for sure: when those doors reopen, we’ll be among the first in line.

Update – September 2025

Exciting news: Breezy is reopening on September 20, 2025! If you’re planning a trip to San Juan Capistrano soon, this is the perfect time to stop by for a fresh, coastal-inspired meal. Their menu is all about simple, seasonal flavors, and the atmosphere makes it feel like you’re right by the beach. Definitely worth adding to your itinerary if you’re exploring the Mission or downtown.

Why Breezy is Worth the Hype

Breezy isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. The vibe, the food, and the cultural nods all come together in a way that makes every visit memorable. If you’re planning a San Juan Capistrano trip, keep Breezy on your radar — because once it reopens, it’s a must-stop.

Hello!

Hey there!
We’re a Filipino family of four figuring things out in California after living in Dubai for years. This space is part blog, part memory box—where we share life lately, parenting wins and fails, travels, and everything in between.

Sometimes it’s deep, sometimes it’s funny, but it’s always honest. Thanks for hanging out with us!

Sometimes the best memories aren’t from big adventures but from the simple moments—like game night in a cozy cabin, laughing until our stomachs hurt. We booked our Big Bear stay through @airbnb and @avantstay gave us the perfect backdrop for a weekend full of fun, comfort, and family time. Definitely one for the books.
