I know it took me a while to post this—life happened. But this trip is too precious not to share. Also, I’m not about to gatekeep this gem we found in Big Bear. We went in April 2022 after several delays, and with a smaller group, we were finally able to make it happen. It turned out to be one of those short but memorable weekends—cozy, peaceful, and exactly what we needed.
The Cabin That Felt Like a Hug
The house was perfect for us. Two bedrooms with six beds, two bathrooms, a spacious open living area, and a wraparound deck with a porch swing and hot tub? Yes, please. The upstairs balcony had a BBQ and firepit, and the kitchen was fully stocked—like, tea, coffee, spices, and everything-you-could-possibly-need stocked. We instantly felt at home.

First Stop: The Town + A Surprise from the Weather
We arrived early for check-in, so we wandered into the visitor center, grabbed some brochures, and explored the quaint downtown area. It was supposed to be early spring, but Mother Nature had other plans—we got hit with a surprise snow shower. Totally unprepared, we went shop-hopping for gloves, but turns out even the locals weren’t expecting snow that weekend. Still, we made it work.
We took a scenic drive, stopping for photos like tourists do—because Big Bear in snow, even just a sprinkle, is magic.

Settling In: S’mores, Games, and Cabin Vibes
Once it was time to check in, we messaged our super accommodating hosts (who were quick to reply to any message), then made a grocery run for dinner supplies. That night, we cooked, made s’mores out on the balcony, and played board games until we were too tired to keep score. The energy was relaxed, the kind of calm that makes you forget your phone even exists.

Exploring + Retreating
The next day, after a slow breakfast with tea and coffee from the stocked kitchen, we drove out to Gold Rush Mining Co. for a little souvenir shopping and to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. But honestly, we couldn’t wait to get back to the cabin. That’s how good it was. We spent our second night the same way—eating, laughing, playing games, and soaking up the chill vibes.

Short Trip, Lasting Memory
On our final morning, we cleaned up (because guests *should* leave things how they found them), messaged the hosts, and hit the road. As we drove back to the Valley, we kept talking about how we experienced winter and spring all in one weekend. Unexpected snow, warm s’mores, a perfect little cabin, and quiet moments that filled our cup.
It wasn’t a grand trip, but it was a good one—and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Note: Since our visit, the property is under new management. While we haven’t been back, it still looks just as beautiful and cozy based on recent reviews.
