Hi Peeps! It’s Thursday once again and to start off Blogger in Focus for the month of September, I’m featuring Pinay Flying High. I stumbled upon her blog years ago when I was looking for Pinay bloggers in the UAE. For some reason, I did not follow her blog religiously. I just read bits and pieces whenever I go blog hopping. Last month, I read all of her entries from the beginning! In a parallel universe, I could be living her life. 😛

How did you start blogging?

Started blogging out of boredom and to document my extraordinary mundane life. It used to be a personal diary of mine in a more public setting to remind me of all the crazy things I cook up for myself. I kinda like the idea of reading back through it even if some posts make me cringe. When I started traveling, my posts became more interesting and it’s basically for my own benefit to remember everything I’ve done during that trip. I’m THAT forgetful. 🙂

What do you write about?

Mostly travel, food and those occasional personal rants.

Tips for new Bloggers?

Write because you want to not for anything else. The whole blogosphere is becoming to commercialized now which is kind of losing its very essence. I know some bloggers who are stressing themselves too much on monetizing their sites or getting freebies or being at the top of the search results. Write because you enjoy it, because you love to express yourself and everything else will follow. Never did I realize that my site will ever be known by anyone else other than my close friends and relatives and I’m kind of proud of myself for that. 🙂

What are the challenges you face with blogging?

The haters, yes I do have haters. :p You can’t please everyone and when you’re as opinionated as I am, you’d definitely come across people who doesn’t share the same opinion as you do. On a brighter side, the haters are actually the ones who will follow your blog more than your actual fans – to feed the hate they have for you so yeah, it does have its positive effect on you as a writer. :p

What do you do outside of blogging?

Find cure for cancer, try to solve the Bermuda triangle mystery and try to reverse the effect of global warming – you know, normal things one would do. :p

1. I absolutely love french fries or anything that’s fried.
