Tried & Tested: The Cure

Last Thursday, I got to try one of Dubai’s leading wellness and beauty lounge – The Cure. What a way to start the weekend, right?

The Cure is located at Dubai Media City (Building 10, BBC World – ground floor). My appointment was at 4 and I arrived 10 minutes late because parking is not easy to find in this area — so be early.

They were playing FRIENDS at the reception area … that’s + 100 points in my book! I like them already… 😀

5 MOST REQUESTED TREATMENTS FROM THE CURE
  1. Spanish Facial Massage
  2. Guaza ‘Buffalo Horn’ Facial Massage
  3. Honey Anti-Cellulite Massage
  4. Nimue Mesotherapy
  5. Semi-permanent Eyelashes
I requested for the Honey Anti-Cellulite Massage because 1 – I love massages! and 2 – I have cellulite. LOL! However, the therapist who was specialized to do the treatment had to go to the hospital for an emergency. They offered a Swedish Massage instead. I’m more than happy to oblige.

And since I try to limit my “me time” away from home (ie, salon visits), I asked if I could have my nails and eyebrow threading done as well.

Look at this wall of nail polishes!!

Alas! They are fully booked. So tip #2, book your treatments in advance!

Flor (my therapist) took me to the treatment room. She gave the usual instructions and then left me to have some privacy. After a while, she came back and worked her magic on me. The massage was heavenly.  Tip #3, ask for Flor!!

After the massage, she told me that my shoulders and neck are tensed. This is due to stress, she said. I told her that this is really my problem area. She then shyly told me that I actually fell asleep during the massage. HAHA! It was that good!

She helped me wipe off the oil from my body with a warm towel, which was quite a treat. She also prepared some green tea with mint for me which was waiting at the reception area. I sipped my tea and lingered for a few minutes, observing how they treat other guests who just came in.

I enjoyed my massage immensely. However, the drive back to Al Nahda … not so much! I would visit regularly if I lived near the area. But since I’m from the other side of Dubai, visits to The Cure would be for extremely special occasions.
