School is out!

Heeeeyooo!

First of all, did you notice our new header?

Picking a name for this blog wasn’t easy. And I am not the most creative person in the world so … I figured I’d do a play on words. Blake was still a toddler and we were listening to a lot of Wheels on the bus and ABC’s back then.

So it was decided, A B and Me.

Get it? A B and C — A B and Me? Now, what does it stand for??? That was another hard question. Initially, it was Alvin, Blake and Me (Sheila) because I was the only one handling the blog. Also, there was just the three of us back then. Alvin started blogging as well so that was perfect!

But now Adam is here. What happens to our blog name? Well, we’re keeping it. The initials still work and the “me” part would be shared by me and Alvin depending on who’s writing the article. Let’s not complicate things. Hah!

School is Out!

So, school is out in our part of the world. Blake was so happy now that she doesn’t have to wake up early. She doesn’t like school very much. (But she did cry on her last day saying she’ll miss her teacher. What do I do with this girl?)

The Gift

There are times that I would go inside the bedroom and leave Mr. A and Princess B in the living room, playing. It’s not because I don’t like playing with them, no. I have loads of fun with these two but sometimes, an idea strikes and I just want to write about it.  But as soon as I sit in front of the laptop, I would get distracted with something else and eventually forget what I was going to write about. Most of the time I would write down on my small notebook the topic in the hopes getting inspired some other time.

It was like that the other day. But it was extra special because B came running to me with this:

The Gift

B: “Mommy Princess, mommy princess, open my gift!!”

Her excitement was infectious. I was smiling from ear to ear. This little girl, my baby, was giving me a gift. I know it wasn’t much but just the tought of her making an effort to ask Mr. A to wrap it was enough to melt my heart. She could have given the gift to someone else but she chose me.  Awww!

I opened the gift with so much excitement and I could see that she was happy that I’m happy. I’m so in love with this kid!

The gift is one of her books. 😀

After I opened it and showered her with kisses, she took the book and wrapper to her dad and we did the process again.  This is definitely one of my favorite moments with B.

What’s your favorite moment with your toddler?

The 2nd Birthday

We celebrated B’s 2nd birthday yesterday at home. Invited a few kids over and feasted on the usual kiddie party food.

I made cupcakes with DIY toppers (more on next post), DIY photobooth, and food. That’s it. The Little One enjoyed her day. She kept dancing and playing with kids. No stress for her and for me.

She was so happy with the gifts she got. OK, I somehow got involved in that. You see, she’s been into “cooking”. So when I was asked what kind of gift she would like, I told them — something for the kitchen. And that’s what she got! (see photo above).

Even the young at heart enjoyed the photobooth. I can say that yesterday was a success. I went a little over my budget for this DIY party but all is well. What’s important is that the Little One is happy.

Happy Birthday, B.

Baby Changing Room

I have never been in love with a baby changing room, ever. (ok, IN LOVE is a very strong feeling, but what the peck!)

However, I have not seen a baby changing room as pretty and efficient as this! This was taken in Mirdif City Center. It’s the one near the food court, beside the Krispy Kreme store.

I think this was the first time that we needed to use the baby changing room in this area before because I almost missed it. I saw the sign, (yes I opened up my eyes and saw the sign) but couldn’t find the door. LOL!

There was a green button below the sign, though. Silly me for not using that! I went inside the rest room looking for the baby changing area. Found none. Went back to the entrance where the sign was and decided to press  the button. Voila! The door slid open. LOL!

Picture above is the first thing you will see upon entering. (sorry for the blurry pictures). Spot the microwave oven (for heating baby food). There’s a sink too, for washing hands and utensils. Tons of waste bins (concealed) and sanitizer dispensers.

There’s a place for toddlers to play (at the left, partly shown in photo) and at the extreme left, there are two changing tables (like a long counter with a sink in the middle!)

I wasn’t able to take proper photos of the room, I felt embarrassed already (missing the door “button”…) But this room has more to offer. There are three other doors to open once you are inside.

That’s the breastfeeding area. Separate from the main room. Total privacy!! That green chair is sooo comfy for breastfeeding! The arms are just right.

This is the rest of the breastfeeding room. With a sink! It was spacious enough to “park” our stroller inside.

One other room has its own “throne”. A big one for mommy and a little potty for baby. Neat!!

Mirdif City Center is now officially my favorite mall, if only just for this.
