“EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVES”
I participated in the Pink Walkathon 2012 today. This is an annual event and this is my first time. I couldn’t go last year because I just gave birth to Blake (and still in the Philippines back then).
Here we are showing our pink badges.
This year, I made sure that I can and will go. A few months ago, a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. I really didn’t know how to react so I just followed her posts and tweets. It was evident from the start that she is going to win this fight. I know. It shows. Why?
Because she has a positive attitude about it. And she has been telling everyone to get checked. Early detection really does make difference. Go check out her blog .. be inspired by her strength.
Anyhow, we arrived at the venue a little before 0830. I was surprised to see a lot of people (esp guys) supporting this cause. We saw a lot of students and families. While waiting for the “GO”, we stood in the sidelines watching the crowd do the Gangnam Style. HAHA!
I swear, it was so fun to look at different nationalities do the dance. And the energy of these young kids… hayyy to be young again. (oops?! thunder cats ang drama?)
So after the 2KM walk (the weather was not so bad … ), we went back inside to check out the program. There were food stalls and games. What got me really excited was the loot bag. LOL. (Who doesn’t like freebies?)
Look at what we got? They were very generous with the loot too! I already have my other hand full and this guy kept giving me stuff. Thank you guy!
Note: This initiative is to spread awareness and raise funds to provide free mammograms for those who can’t afford. I think my AED 50 is well spent, don’t you think?
