I work in the aviation industry with academic background in information technology. Who would have known that I would find inspiration from a chef? Not just a chef, but India’s FIRST Michelin Star Chef.
A conference on Innovation
I recently attended the BOLDTalks Innovation 2017 event. This event is something that I look forward to every year because the topics are very engaging and relevant. This year’s event included the a Chef as one of the speakers. You’d ask yourself, what does a Chef have to do with innovation?
The journey of India’s First Michelin Star Chef
I used to be intimidated by Caldereta. It seemed so complicated. I’ll tell you why.
In the olden days…
Growing up, we would always have these family parties and gatherings at home. Aunts and Uncles would come over early to help with the preparations. Food were always made from scratch. And I mean no short cuts!
You need chicken? Pork? Beef? Goat? They buy them alive and slaughter them at home. Morbid, I know. But that was tradition … something that was not passed on to the next generation. I don’t know, we just can’t do it. We also did not use gas stoves when cooking. Not that we don’t have stoves, the older generation just prefer cooking with firewood. They say it adds flavor. Complicated, right?
Anyway … back to Caldereta.
Kimchikin Al Ghurair
A few days after our quick vacation in the Philippines, we were invited to try Kimchikin in their newest branch in Al Ghurair Centre. The place is cozy with contemporary, minimalistic design. A big TV plays Kpop music videos on the background. Being a Kpop fan, my niece would have loved it here but alas! she isn’t here and I was at a loss. I had no idea what I was watching. LOL.
I have been here in Dubai for 17 years and I can’t say that I have sampled Authentic Emirati Cuisine until recently when we got invited at Aseelah.
I’ve heard of Little Manila waaaay before it opened. A close friend has been telling me all about the newest “pinoy” place to be. Great! A new hang out. They will be serving Filipino food, what could go wrong?
During this time, most offices have reduced working hours which is a big YES! for me. This means I can go home and spend some time with B (or blog, just like what I’m doing now!)
One more giveaway for our Blog Anniversary!!
Radisson Blu Dubai Dining Vouchers
A few nights ago, we were invited to try Sumibiya restaurant at Radisson Blu, Deira Creek.
We were treated to a sumptuous Korean BBQ dinner consisting of seafood, vegetables and meat marinated in different sauces.
As you may have noticed, we are fans of Dusit Thani Dubai. (You can read about our stay at Dusit Thani Dubai here.) So why not kick start the Blog Anniversary Giveaway with dining vouchers from The Californian at Dusit, yes?!
The Californian, Dusit Thani Dubai’s international buffet restaurant, plays host to tantalizing dishes from across the globe with its themed nights which change from day to day, satisfying any taste. The relaxed space offers stunning views of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai, making it the perfect place for a relaxed breakfast, lunch or dinner.
May of 2015 I was again trusted to represent our company in one of the major events in the aviation industry. It was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
MY ARRIVAL IN MALAYSIA
Being a Filipino, we get visa on arrival in Malaysia. Being a business trip I had to make arrangement for travel and accommodation at least a month before the conference. The event organizer recommended Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, however the arrange rate was higher compared to the rate that staff from our company gets at the Marriot (Renaissance) Hotel, other than the room rate we also get discounts on F & B and other services. Other than that, Marriott is within walking distance to Sheraton (event venue). It is also close to the train station, a mall and a lot of street food vendors.
I’m having mini panic attacks again, just like last year, when I realized how close Christmas is! Of course, I haven’t bought gifts yet. I’m the queen of last minute shopping. LOL
