Rheinfall, Switzerland – 09 19 15
[This is part of our trip to Switzerland in 2015. We are in Dubai as of this writing]
For our second day in Switzerland, we decided to have a laid back picnic at Rheinfall. This is the largest waterfall in Europe and is part of Rhine river which passes through 6 countries.
It wasn’t far from our home base in Winterthur, about half an hours drive. I definitely didn’t get bored from the trip because it’s very scenic. There’s a fee of CHF 5 per person to enter the area.
Then there’s a lot of walking involved. Lot’s of stairs too so strollers are not advised.
There are several strategic spots where you can get beautiful photos (my shots doesn’t give justice to the beauty of the place!) It’s not really clear from the below photo but this observation deck is extended so the water is rushing below you. Scary and pretty at the same time!
There are safety rails everywhere but it’s still wise to hold on to your kids (as always).
Picnic, pinoy style. We passed by a supermarket before going to Rheinfall to buy food. We had sandwiches, fruits, juices and special “grape juice” for the adults 😛

We also went to a vineyard in Osterfingen … still in Switzerland but we had to pass through German border. Going home, our GPS took us to Rheinau where we had to cross a bridge which is the natural border dividing Switzerland and Germany.
Excuse me while I pose at a border sign. 😛
Back at our home base, we took the kids to a nearby park and enjoyed the sunset. We had dinner at home afterwards and then went to bed to save some energy for all the adventure we are going to have for the next few days.
Watch out for Day 3!
